Sensor-E
e-textile that engages sensory and social stimulations in neurodiverse patients
STATUS : Past Experimental work
TYPE: Personal Project
Sensor-E is a tool for sensory integration therapy. It's a e-textile that engages sensory and social stimulations in neurodiverse patients.
A tactile toy for sensory integration. With the intention to assist neurodiversity-affirming therapists (specially under the autism spectrum disorder ASD).
Theory proposes that the development of sensory integration occurs at three levels; the tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive system.
This project is focussed on the tactile level - texture therapy

PROTOTYPE
The first prototypes are embed with sound speakers, LED light and textures to allow flexibility and integration of other senses in further levels
Programmable settings
As you place the texture pads in the puzzle spaces, LEDs under the fabric glow though.
Sounds can be added based on the patient's characteristics.
Gloves version:
From research and interviews with experts, one of the most important things in working with children under the ASD is to teach social skills.
After some ideation, I tried to come up with tactile gloves.
By associating positive sensorial stimuli with the act of touching hands we may be able to develop basic skills such as shaking hands!
